Gianluigi Buffon was an Italian footballer who played for Juventus as a goalkeeper. He is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers and by some, the best ever. He played his last game with Juventus against Hellas Verona on May 19, 2018. It was Buffon’s 656th game with the club.
On Thursday, Buffon declared that he might be finishing his seventeen-year career in Turin. He aided the champions to end season with 1-2 victory over Hellas Verona. This match was a great chance to pay honor to their retiring captain, Juventus had previously won 7th consecutive title. Buffon was off the field when Hellas Verona scored their relieving goal when Pjanic and Rugani put the Verona in control.

Buffon was joined by his three children as he captained the Juventus at the Allianz Stadium and received emotional fans in the crowd before the game, the fans excited to pay their own farewells to their leaving legend. He left the football field hugging the co-players, staff and rivals similarly. His eyes were filled with tears when he left the football-field. Juventus supporters said farewell to the greatest goalkeeper the football has ever produced with plenty of tears.

Buffon’s teammates wrote earlier on social media, with Dybala saying: “Hundred matches together, 1,040 days, tears, hugs, smiles. I wish you happiest future, captain. I will remember you – now let’s enjoy together again!”
Rugani scored the opening goal during 49th minute, extracting home after Verona goalie Nícolas blocked Douglas Costa’s low effort. After three minutes Pjanic scored the 2nd goal, whipping a clean free-kick to the left corner. Buffon at that point left the field, prearranged a guard of honor as he left the field, the crowd in stadium stood in gratitude. Carlo Pinsoglio substituted Buffon and failed to save goal in the 76th minute as Alessio Cerci dragged one back. It didn’t prove expensive as the home team finished off triumph; the day belonged to the legend Buffon.
When Buffon went to the bench and changed his jersey in the locker room. He embraced hands with every fan he could touch, teens and old similarly – most of the fans had tears rolling down their faces. He gave autographs to the people on things that fans passed to him for a last time, fans threw scarfs from the crowd over his neck. There were so many scarfs that people would have been started wondering how he not sank into the field.
The game of football will always remember this legend as the best goalkeeper ever. He received a very heartwarming farewell from the fans and his teammates.
