The garage, close to Blackhorse Road station, was three quarters destroyed and damage to a mezzanine floor of the workshop was also damaged in the blaze.  Two cars and a van in the garage were destroyed.  A 15Kg, propane cylinder exploded.  Firefighters removed two further cyclinders to stop further explosions.

“We’re working closely with British Transport Police and Transport for London to maintain the Victoria line service.”

Ten fire engines were called to the scene.  It took over three hours to bring the fire under control.

Across the city, 352 people had to be evacuated from the Aeronaut pub in Action, a distict in west London.   The pub was destroyed by fire at 12.30am this morning.  The London Fire Brigade (LFB), said it rescued six people from a first floor flat.  The fire was brought under control at 5am, but not before a police station, next door to the pub was evacuated.

AN LFB spokesperson said, “Half of the ground floor of the building is alight. The first and second floors, including the roof of the three-storey building, have been gutted by the fire.”

Musican Matt Blair who was rescued from the roof of the pub, tweeted, “We’re fine but 2017 has already got off to a bad start. One of our favourite venues that we just played burned down. Everyone is fine.

“Manic. We were upstairs, had to get on a roof area and luckily found a ladder we could climb down. Scary stuff.

“It was pretty scary and shocking. Physically we’re all fine. Just a bit shocked and sad.”

Causes of both incidents are currently unknown.
